Hide and Go Seek

Okay, so it's not often that I get much time of peace and quiet.  I'm sure every busy mom with kids is giving me an "Amen Sister" to that.  Especially us homeschool moms that have our kids with us 24/7.  I love being with them, but three boys can make a lot of noise. "Mom watch this.." ; "Mom guess what...",  "but why..",  "Stop!!", " "he's touching me"....you know what I mean.  So when I'm pumping gas at the gas station I take full advantage of it.  I stand there pumping gas, staring at them through the window.  Usaully, they are yelling something to me.  I smile and nod my head like I know exactly what they're saying.  I breathe in the fresh smell of gas and enjoy the quiet.

So, that's what I was doing today.  On my mind was Bible memory work.  Okay, so I'm sure you were imagining that I'd be thinking of something more interesting.  But, alas, no.  I was actually thinking about myself as a child.  I memorized Bible verses, just like my kids do.  I wished now, that someone had explained to me why it was so important.  (I was the "why" kid)  So, I always tell my children that we memorize God's words to hide them in our hearts and later we will remember them, to guide us and armor ourselves.  His words will be there for us to find when we seek them.  Hmmmm???  Hide - find - seek .... Aha!!!!!! A hide and seek game with Bible verses.  (I thought all this in the amount of time it took me to pump gas :-)

So.  Here's my new little game that I'm gonna try with the boys to make Bible memorization a little more fun.  I will write the memory verses that they've learned and are currently learning on index cards. Then I'm going to hide them throughout the house and let them run and find them.  When they are all retrieved, I'll have them read the ones they have found. (check two, we practice reading. :-)  Then we'll say the verse three times together.  Better yet, I can have my oldest write out the verses on the cards.  (check three, handwriting practice .... oh yah, running = pe... check four)

I'm not sure how this will go, but, I'll update y'all and let you know.  Fingers crossed!!!
